Javier Mascherano: Barcelona defender to commit future until 2019

Defender Javier Mascherano will sign a new two-year contract with Barcelona, tying him to the Spanish champions until June 2019.

The ex-West Ham player, 32, has made 289 appearances for Barca since joining from Liverpool for £17.25m in 2010.

Mascherano has won four La Liga titles and enjoyed two Champions League successes since moving to the Nou Camp.

The Argentina international will sign his contract extension on Monday, 17 October, a Barcelona statement said.
