Neil Warnock: Cardiff City will get 'sharper' says manager

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock believes his side are showing signs of improvement after his first two games in charge.

Warnock has overseen a win over Bristol City and a draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

Cardiff remain in the Championship relegation zone, but Warnock is encouraged by his team's progress.

"We will get a lot fitter and a lot sharper in the next couple of weeks," he said.

"I think four points from two games is fabulous really. We had to hang in there but you have to do that against a good side like Sheffield Wednesday."

Cardiff are 22nd in the Championship table but four points against Wednesday and Bristol City - sixth and seventh respectively - represents a solid start to Warnock's reign.

There has been a marked improvement in performance, with the Bluebirds playing with more urgency and purpose than they had done during Paul Trollope's 11 games at the helm.

In a managerial career spanning 36 years and 15 clubs, Warnock has prided himself on instilling a tireless work ethic in his sides - and Cardiff are no different.

"I was really pleased with the effort from the lads [against Wednesday]," said Warnock.

"We were second best in a lot of area in this game, but we were not second best in what we had under our shirts.

"I thought we were superb in that regard and the fans appreciated that really."
