Leicester City will consider appealing against striker Jamie Vardy's red card in Saturday's draw at Stoke.

Vardy, 29, is set to receive a three-match ban after being sent off for a 28th-minute tackle on Stoke midfielder Mame Diouf.

The Potters went on to take a 2-0 lead before Leicester rescued a point with two goals in the final 15 minutes.

Ranieri, when asked if he will contest the red card, said: "I don't know, let me think. If it's possible, yes."

After tussling with Glen Johnson, Vardy jumped and made the tackle with both feet on Diouf but won the ball, and the contact the Leicester man made with the Stoke player was with his shins.

Referee Craig Pawson deemed it dangerous enough to issue a red cad and Vardy will miss games against Everton, West Ham and Middlesbrough unless the appeal is successful.

"He wants to challenge and get the ball, not make a foul," said Ranieri.

"There was a big challenge between Johnson and Vardy. He touched the ball. Maybe it was yellow."

Stoke boss Mark Hughes disagreed with the Italian, saying: "I've seen it and it was a two-footed challenge.

"The lad left the floor and I don't know what Leicester are complaining about. From my point of view it was clear."
