Markus Schwabl: Fleetwood Town sign VfR Aalen midfielder

Markus Schwabl was appointed VfR Aalen captain at the start of the season

League One Fleetwood Town have signed midfielder Markus Schwabl from German side VfR Aalen for an undisclosed fee on a two-and-a-half year deal.

The 26-year-old, who can also play right-back, had been playing in the third tier of German football.

Schwabl is the son of former West Germany international Manfred Schwabl.

"He's very fit and very professional in his day to day work and he will offer us a lot of energy in midfield," boss Uwe Rolser told the club website.
