League Two side Cambridge have signed Chesterfield defender Liam O'Neil for an undisclosed fee on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

O'Neil, who can also play in midfield, made 49 appearances for the Spireites after signing from West Brom in August 2015.

The 23-year-old has played in 17 League One games this season, scoring twice.

"He is a Cambridge boy returning home and is a fantastic fit for us," said U's manager Shaun Derry.
