Louis Laing will bolster Richie Foran's defensive options

Inverness Caledonian Thistle have signed former Motherwell defender Louis Laing until the end of the season.

Laing, 23, was a free agent and had other offers after leaving Well, who had loaned him to Notts County earlier this season.

He previously played for Sunderland, Wycombe and Nottingham Forest.

"He has a bit of class about him, he's got presence, he's got pace as well," Inverness boss Richie Foran said of Laing.

"It looked as if he was going abroad to Australia, it fell through.

"Obviously, we're down on defenders. We've got a couple of suspensions as well with the injuries."

Meanwhile, Foran has confirmed defender Kevin McNaughton is close to returning from long-term injury.

Former Aberdeen, Cardiff and Scotland full-back McNaughton, 34, joined the Highlanders in July but has not played since injuring his knee against Ross County in August.

Caley Thistle also have defender Josh Meekings currently out following knee surgery.
