Guernsey FC: Captain Jamie Dodd quits Green Lions
- Published
Guernsey FC's battle against relegation has been hit by the departure of skipper Jamie Dodd, who has quit the club.
Announcing the team news for Sunday's game with Hastings United, the Green Lions revealed Dodd, 27, had decided to "step away".
The central defender's last game was as a second-half substitute in Wednesday's 4-1 home defeat by Corinthian-Casuals.
He made more than 200 appearances during his time at the club.
No reason for Dodd's decision has yet been given, but Guernsey FC said they "may comment in due course".
Dodd, who was named player of the year in the 2012-13 campaign, is the second experienced player to leave the Green Lions in the space of a month, after forward Marc McGrath left in January.
Guernsey FC are just one place above the Isthmian League Division One South relegation zone and have won just one of their last 10 matches.
