Women's Muratti: Guernsey FA confirm cancellation of 2017 competition

The Guernsey Football Association has confirmed "with regret" its decision to cancel the 2017 women's Muratti.
Guernsey pulled out of the game against rivals Jersey because they could not convince enough players to register directly with the island's FA.
The GFA announced it would revisit the initial decision made on 8 February.
Since then, more than 25 players have offered to join clubs in Guernsey, hoping those affiliations would be enough to get the fixture back on.
But the GFA said those registrations would not go ahead.
"There was a hope that the match could be played this season, but the reality is without a local competition in place we were not able to satisfy the inter-insular rules, and there is now no prospect of the GFA achieving that," said GFA chief executive Gary Roberts in a statement., external
"It is with regret that the Guernsey Football Association confirms that this season's ladies inter-insular football trophy match will not go ahead."
