Bumpers Lane will host National League football again in Auguat - for a fifth straight season

Boreham Wood condemned Chester to a club record eighth straight home defeat as the Hertfordshire side won to ensure a National League top-half finish.

Kenny Davis opened the scoring for Boreham Wood in first-half stoppage time, side-footing home from outside the box after a deflection.

Angelo Balanta put the result beyond doubt after 61 minutes to lift Wood four places up to 11th in the table.

Chester finish in 19th place, just two points clear of the drop zone.

Jon McCarthy's side would only have been in danger if relegated York City had turned round a nine-goal swing in goal difference - and three other results gone against them too.

But a sixth straight defeat was a poor way to end the season for a Chester side who stood seventh on Boxing Day - and have now failed to win at home in 11 attempts in 2017.
