FC Halifax Town 2-0 Guiseley

  • Published

Matt Kosylo's stunning first-half opener put Halifax on a course to register their first home win of the National League season as West Yorkshire rivals Guiseley fell at the Shay.

Halifax survived an early scare, with Lions midfielder Alex Purver seeing his drive deflected just over, but the hosts soon assumed full control.

Kosylo's wonder goal - he cut in from the left before finding the top corner from the edge of the box - gave the Shaymen confidence and Adam Morgan should have further extended the lead before the break.

The former Liverpool striker was thwarted by Elliot Green and then blasted over from a Tom Denton flick forward.

Deep into the second half, Kosylo tried his luck again with a shot from a corner.

Halifax did not have to wait long to score again, though, as centre-back Matty Brown rose highest to nod home.
