Hartlepool United 0-2 AFC Fylde

  • Published

Danny Rowe became Fylde's all-time record goalscorer with number 120 in all competitions as he netted a late second goal in a victory over struggling Hartlepool at Victoria Park.

Welsh midfielder Henry Jones broke the deadlock for the away side five minutes before the break as he volleyed home Jack Muldoon's floated cross to give his side the lead against their second-bottom opponents.

Pools lost defender Scott Harrison to injury on the stroke of half-time and he was replaced by 18-year-old Kenton Richardson as they trailed by one.

Neither side was able to find the net in the opening exchanges of the second half with home goalkeeper Scott Loach denying Rowe as the Coasters searched for a second.

But the 27-year-old former Lincoln striker steered home Jonny Smith's free-kick with six minutes remaining to claim the club record and seal maximum points.

Pools remain without a win in their first season after relegation from League Two.
