Cheltenham Town 3-1 Colchester United

  • Published

Cheltenham picked up only their second League Two win of the season with victory against 10-man Colchester.

The Robins took the lead when Jordan Cranston's cross from the left was headed in from close range by Kevin Dawson.

They doubled their advantage five minutes later when Dawson's shot from 25 yards was deflected past Sam Walker by Mohamed Eisa.

Colchester had wasted an opportunity to open the scoring in the first minute after a mistake from Cranston.

Nicke Kabamba was through but delayed his shot and was closed down by goalkeeper Scott Flinders, eventually shooting tamely wide.

The U's pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after a handball in the box by Taylor Moore, with Sammie Szmodics converting.

Colchester found themselves down to 10 men when Mikael Mandron handled in the area after a free-kick from Joe Morrell.

Brian Graham's penalty was saved by Walker, but Cheltenham went 3-1 up when Jamie Grimes tapped in Eisa's low ball at the far post.
