Aston Villa's improved form continued as they made it three straight Championship wins by thrashing Burton.

Steve Bruce's side are now unbeaten in seven league games and scored three times in the first 32 minutes to effectively settle the contest.

Keinan Davis headed Villa ahead, Albert Adomah stroked home his fourth goal in three games and Robert Snodgrass fired in the third from 18 yards.

Substitute Josh Onomah tapped in the fourth to complete the scoring.

The closest Burton came to scoring was when Sean Scannell's second-half effort was cleared off the line by James Chester from one of only two efforts on target by the home side.

Villa's victory lifts them to eighth in the table, just two points outside the play-off places, and means they have won three successive games in the league for the first time since March and April.

They had already seen Jonathan Kodjia's shot touched on to the post by Brewers goalkeeper Stephen Bywater when Davis rose highest in the six-yard box to head in Ahmed Elmohamady's cross.

Adomah slotted in the second from the edge of the box following Snodgrass' pass before the Scotland midfielder drove in his first Villa goal from the edge of the penalty area.

Villa completed back-to-back away league victories for the first time since September 2014 when Onomah converted fellow sub Scott Hogan's low cross.

Burton manager Nigel Clough:

"I thought we started the game extremely well and to come in 3-0 down, we were a little bit shellshocked.

"The result was very poor but the performance wasn't too bad at all tonight.

"I think in the game they (Villa) have had four or five shots and scored four goals.

"That is the quality that tells and the pace and the power that they have along with the Premier League experience behind that. They get that first goal and it makes it very difficult for us."

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce:

"I enjoyed watching us tonight. It's always nice when you have a convincing victory away from home.

"That can only breed a little bit of confidence and if this club and team can get confident again then we have good players here.

They have gone back-to-back away games now and scored three at Barnsley and four here tonight and it gives us a nice platform going into the winter.

"We are in good shape. We look a threat at the top end of the pitch and of course we have been a bit more clinical. We took the chances that we had and that was good to see."
