Cameron Jerome's goal was his first in the league this term and second in all competitions

Norwich City extended their unbeaten run to seven games as they inflicted a fourth loss in six matches on Reading.

James Maddison's curling free-kick put Norwich ahead but the hosts levelled promptly through Liam Moore's header.

Cameron Jerome then side-footed against the post for the Canaries, before heading them in front after half-time, unmarked at the far post from a corner.

Marley Watkins was sent off late on for a wild tackle on Chris Gunter, but the Royals had little time to capitalise.

The defeat was Reading's third in their last four home games in all competitions, while for Daniel Farke's improving Norwich it brought a fourth-straight away win.

Gunter had clipped the bar with a powerful drive in the second half, but that was the closest Jaap Stam's side went to making it 2-2.

The 2016-17 play-off finalists have won just two of their first 11 league games of this season and look far less clinical so far this term in the absence of injured veteran striker Yann Kermorgant, who remains sidelined following a pre-season hip and groin injury.

Garath McCleary could have given the hosts the lead in the first half, but he dinked just wide of the near post under pressure from keeper Angus Gunn, and Norwich earned all three points when Maddison's bouncing corner was not dealt with and Jerome headed home precisely.
