Greenock Morton 0-1 Falkirk
- Published
Falkirk gave interim boss Alex Smith a winning start with their first league win of the season at Greenock Morton.
A stunning free-kick from Joe McKee after 62 minutes, against the run of play, proved enough to lift the Bairns out of the Championship's bottom two.
The visitors should have taken an early lead when Nathan Austin's effort was well saved by Derek Gaston and Kevin O'Hara curled the follow-up wide.
But McKee's strike broke the deadlock and they survived late Morton pressure.
Morton drop to sixth, seven points off leaders St Mirren, while Falkirk move four points above bottom side Brechin City.
