Highlights: Gateshead 2-0 Chelmsford City

Jordan Burrow and Danny Johnson struck within four first-half minutes as Gateshead brushed aside Chelmsford City to reach the second round of the FA Cup.

Gateshead should have been ahead early on, but defender Neill Byrne blazed his close-range effort over.

But the hosts took a deserved lead after half-an-hour when Wes York's teasing cross from the left was perfect for Burrow, who glanced a header beyond Michael Spillane.

The home side doubled their lead just four minutes later - Russell Penn teeing up Johnson to dispatch a curling effort from the edge of the area into the bottom corner.

Chelmsford improved after the break with substitute Tom Hitchcock seeing a header tipped around the post by James Montgomery, and the Gateshead stopper did well to parry Shaun Batt's free-kick.

There was no comeback for the Clarets, however, as the Tyneside hosts clung on to secure victory.
