Notts County 3-1 Cheltenham Town
- Published
Two goals from top scorer Jorge Grant helped keep Notts County top of League Two as they overcame Cheltenham Town at Meadow Lane.
Grant, on loan from Nottingham Forest, opened the scoring on the half hour mark when he guided the ball into the far corner following good work from Jon Stead.
But the visitors were level just moments later as Carl Winchester steered in a finely-taken equaliser with what was the Robins' first shot on target.
Danny Wright then looped a header onto the bar just after half-time, as Gary Johnson's side chased an unlikely win.
But Grant curtailed those hopes when his 25-yard free-kick took a wicked deflection to wrong foot Scott Flinders for his 13th goal of the season.
Notts then made the game safe when a well-worked corner ended with Richard Duffy flicking towards the back post for Shaun Brisley to head home.
Cheltenham did have a chance to make it 3-2 when Mohamed Eisa connected at the back post, but the striker somehow steered his shot wide.
