Port Vale 2-0 Cambridge United

Port Vale fans who helped to clear the pitch of snow before kick-off were rewarded as their side saw off Cambridge United.

A group of supporters volunteered alongside club staff and ground staff to clear the Vale Park pitch of snow to ensure the fixture took place.

Port Vale took the lead just before half-time when Christian Montanaro converted a low David Worrall cross, curling his shot into the top corner.

Montanaro popped up again a minute after the interval to poke home from a Worrall corner following some poor defending.

Montanaro tried a long-range effort which just fizzed wide before he was taken off to a standing ovation from the home faithful.

The visitors had chances, but failed to convert them as Harrison Dunk found Unche Ikpeazu at the far post who was unable to tuck it away.

Ikpeazu was sent off a minute from time after receiving his second yellow card, just two minutes after he was shown his first.
