Dundee United remain one point clear of second-place St Mirren

Billy King scored a brace as Dundee United beat Morton to stay top of the Championship table.

Ton goalkeeper Derek Gaston denied Fraser Fyvie and Scott McDonald as United dominated the first half but could not find a breakthrough.

King netted the opener after the interval with a powerful drive from the edge of the box after Robert Thomson went close for the hosts.

And King sealed the win four minutes into injury time.

The result keeps the Tannadice outfit a point clear of St Mirren, while Morton are sixth.
