Tommy Wright's St Johnstone lost 2-1 at home to Kilmarnock

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright had "no sympathy" for two of his players after they were late for Saturday's match against Kilmarnock.

Richard Foster and Michael O'Halloran were delayed by a road traffic accident on the A9.

O'Halloran was listed as a substitute but did not feature as Saints lost 2-1 at McDiarmid Park.

"Our plans have been thrown into sort of chaos," Wright told BBC Scotland prior to the match.

"Foster and O'Halloran haven't made it on time. We've had to make two changes before the game even starts.

"I've absolutely no sympathy for them. It's up to them to get on time.

"They've got caught up in something, which obviously isn't their fault, but other players made it from the same area.

"Ultimately, it's a player's responsibility to get to his place of work on time.

"Inside, I'm not happy. To have to make a change before the game, which can be avoided, is disappointing."

Speaking after the game, Saints captain Joe Shaughnessy insisted the duo's absence did not affect the outcome.

"No, I don't think so," he said. "The lads that came in were well able. We all prepared the same. I wouldn't use that as an excuse about the result."

St Johnstone, who have taken just four points from the last 24, now face six further games this month before January's winter break.

"Fully confident in the lads," added defender Shaughnessy. "They all want to turn it round. We all want to play for each other and we all want to just get back to getting positive results.

"We just need to stick together."
