Dave Doggett has stepped down as chairman of Cambridge United after nearly five years in the role.

The lifelong Cambridge supporter was appointed in January 2013 having been a director on the board of the League Two club since 2011.

During his time as chairman, the U's won promotion to the English Football League and lifted the FA Trophy.

Doggett told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire that he "won't be making a statement at this time".
