Morecambe 4-3 Yeovil Town
- Published
Four late goals gave Morecambe a superb victory in a seven-goal thriller against Yeovil at the Globe Arena.
The Shrimps were trailing 2-0 with 18 minutes to go but two goals from Callum Lang, a strike from Vadaine Oliver and an amazing stoppage-time header from Kevin Ellison earned the Shrimps a much-needed three points with a 4-3 win.
Darren Way's side were given the perfect start when they were gifted the lead after 25 seconds via Jake Gray, before Otis Khan doubled their lead early in the first half. Omar Sowunmi's 84th minute goal gave the visitors a 3-2 lead which lasted a little over a minute.
The Glovers took the lead virtually straight from the kick-off as a mix-up between Luke Conlan and Steve Old left Gray free to beat Barry Roche from the edge of the box.
Yeovil added a second after 17 minutes with a neat finish from the highly-rated Khan, who lifted the ball over Roche from the edge of the area after getting clear of Michael Rose.
Morecambe's Oliver hit the post from distance and then spurned a glorious chance when played in by Aaron McGowan, but the hosts struggled to make their dominance pay as Yeovil sat on their lead.
But the game began to turn 18 minutes from time.
Artur Krysiak saved from Lang but Yeovil could not get the ball clear and Oliver headed home from close range.
Lang levelled with a close-range finish after 78 minutes before Sowunmi's free header put Yeovil back in front with six minutes left.
Seconds later, another Lang strike levelled it before Ellison scored a dramatic winner two minutes into stoppage time.
