Queen of the South remain two points and two places outside the play-off positions after a goal-less draw with Dumbarton.

The home side enjoyed much of the possession in the first half but struggled to break the visitors down.

Dumbarton included new signing Liam Dick in the starting XI for the first time following his move from Stranraer.

They were indebted to goalkeeper Scott Gallacher after the break, for keeping out a Chris Kane effort.

That came moments after Dumbarton's Calum Gallagher came close to opening the scoring in the 56th minute, but his close-range effort was well saved by Alan Martin.

Queen's goalkeeper was called into action again late on to keep the score 0-0, saving Christian Nade's header.
