The draw moved Newport onto 46 points - just two less than the tally they achieved during the whole of last season.

Newport County's last game before the visit of Tottenham in the FA Cup ended in a 1-1 draw with visitors Morecambe.

Ben Tozer's second goal of the season opened the scoring for County on 14 minutes after a Robbie Willmott cross.

Morecambe equalised on 77 minutes, Michael Rose's penalty sending Joe Day the wrong way after the Exiles' keeper fouled an onrushing Garry Thompson.

The draw moves Newport up one place to eighth in League Two, whilst Morecambe remain 19th.

There were 2,754 fans at Rodney Parade on Tuesday, however that number will be almost 10,000 on Saturday for Newport's sell-out FA Cup tie against Spurs.

Joss Labadie, Matthew Dolan and Ben White all missed County's draw with Morecambe, and all are doubts for Saturday.

Newport boss Mike Flynn told BBC Sport Wales: "For the majority of the game we were the better team. They had a 10 minutes spell in the second half where they were on top but apart from that we were better by far.

"It's another point on the board, you just have to keep going. Not every team above us is going to win every game so we just have to keep going."
