Yeovil Town 2-0 Cambridge United

  • Published

Yeovil beat Cambridge thanks to second-half goals from Nathan Smith and substitute Alex Fisher.

Cambridge enjoyed the better of the possession and chances but failed to make them count and Smith opened the scoring when Omar Sowunmi headed an Alefe Santos free-kick back across goal and his central defensive partner volleyed in emphatically.

Fisher then got his first Yeovil goal with his first touch after coming off the bench when fellow substitute Rhys Browne set up the striker to smash it home in the 84th minute.

The U's did have their opportunities, with Brad Halliday putting the best of them wide from six yards with goalkeeper Artur Krysiak stranded having saved an initial effort from Uche Ikpeazu.

Jevani Brown then struck the post late on with a strike from the edge of the box, but it means it is now no wins in five and three straight defeats for the visitors as the Glovers secured successive victories.
