Macclesfield Town have apologised for a late payment of January's salaries and have said players and staff will be paid on Monday, 5 February.

The National League leaders say the delay was caused by a late payment owed to the club by another party.

"Following the delayed receipt of budgeted monies from an overseas source, we will be in a position to pay wages on Monday," a statement said.

Amar Alkadhi is the majority shareholder at Macclesfield Town.

The Silkmen are currently top of the National League after 31 games and their next game is against Guiseley on 10 February.

In a statement issued earlier on Friday, squad members and coaching staff had said they were "disappointed" not to have not heard from chairman Mark Blower or the owners regarding the issue.
