National League strugglers Guiseley have sacked boss Paul Cox after just five months in charge.

Cox, 46, took over at Nethermoor on 4 September but won just three league games and Tuesday's 1-0 defeat by Gateshead was a sixth successive loss.

The Lions went full-time earlier this season but are 10 points adrift of safety at the bottom of the league.

Former Republic of Ireland defender Sean St Ledger will take charge on a caretaker basis.

Cox started the season with fellow National League side Barrow but left by mutual consent in August after just under two years with the club.

The ex-Notts County and Halifax defender led Mansfield to promotion to the Football League in 2013 and has also managed Torquay.

Guiseley, who have not won since Boxing Day, host Maidenhead on Saturday.
