Lincoln City 1-4 Crewe Alexandra

  • Published

Lincoln slipped to a rare home defeat as Crewe eased their relegation fears with an emphatic win at Sincil Bank.

City took the lead 10 minutes before the break when Michael Bostwick nodded home from close range.

But the turning point of the match arrived in the final minute of the half as the Alex levelled when Harry Pickering hammered a free-kick into the top corner of the net.

Crewe then made a bright start to the second half, taking the lead just three minutes after the break when Shaun Miller's low cross was slotted home by Jordan Bowery

The Alex then extended their lead when, after Bostwick was adjudged to have brought down Miller in the box, Paul Green fired beyond Ryan Allsop to make it 3-1 after 54 minutes.

The Imps needed the next goal to have any hope of a fightback but it was the Alex who got it. Following a corner, the Imps were left totally exposed by a Crewe counter-attack which was rounded off by Bowery on 68 minutes.
