Mid-table pair Norwich City and Nottingham Forest played out a goalless Championship stalemate at Carrow Road.

The Canaries have drawn five successive Championship matches - their longest sequence of draws since 1994.

Ben Brereton and Matty Cash missed chances for Forest, whose keeper Costel Pantilimon kept out three first-half efforts from Norwich's Josh Murphy.

In-form forward James Maddison fired over from the home side's best opportunity of the second period.

Norwich and Forest remain 14th and 15th in the table respectively and appear certain to be playing in Championship football again next season.

Norwich boss Daniel Farke:

"We are struggling to score goals. Look at the facts, 34 goals after 35 games.

"This game was the story of our season. We can't just lie back and work at 80 per cent.

"We have to be hungry and greedy to improve and when I don't have the feeling there is a player willing to work in a disciplined way to improve his situation, and that of the team, I will do without them."

Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka:

"I think we could have won, but a draw was about right.

"We had three or four clear chances but we had an 18-year-old up front in Ben Brereton. Sometimes he will miss chances. Sometimes he will score.

"The most important thing was the performance. I know it was not the best game to watch but if we can't score it is important to keep a clean sheet against a good team like Norwich."
