Nottingham Forest missed a second-half penalty in a goalless draw against Bristol City.

Forest's Ben Osborn was brought down in the penalty area by Robins goalkeeper Frank Fielding.

But former Bristol City forward Lee Tomlin saw his tame spot-kick well saved by Fielding.

Andreas Bouchalakis also came close with a header as Forest dominated much of the game, with the result ending City's faint play-off hopes.

City boss Lee Johnson will be concerned after Nathan Baker was stretchered off in the seventh minute when he was struck in the face by a powerful Joe Lolley strike.

Famara Diedhiou had the visitors' best effort, curling a shot narrowly wide from the edge of the box, while Marlon Pack also came close to opening the scoring.

Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka:

"I am really pleased, because once again we were playing for nothing, but it was the last home game of the season and we wanted to finish the season in our stadium in the best way.

"I do not know how many chances we created, and we had a penalty.

"We could not score but I was pleased with the attitude of everyone, because it is not easy."

Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol:

"I think it was a penalty, we got ourselves caught out by some poor positioning.

"We always fancy Frank (Fielding) in penalty situations. He's obviously faced quite a few from Lee Tomlin in training sessions and he read it well."

On Baker's injury: "We've got to keep an eye on him. He's been knocked out. He'll probably be out for next week."
