Nick Daws: Scunthorpe United caretaker 'accepts' manager's job

Nick Daws' only defeat in nine games in charge was in the second leg of their play-off with Rotherham

Scunthorpe caretaker boss Nick Daws has said he has accepted the offer to manage the club on a permanent basis.

First-team coach Daws, 48, has been in interim charge since the Iron sacked Graham Alexander in March after eight games without a win.

He kept them in fifth place but they lost 4-2 on aggregate to Rotherham in the League One play-offs.

"We're hopeful it will be concluded quickly. I don't foresee any problems," he told BBC Radio Humberside.

"We've (along with Andy Dawson) both accepted the offer of manager and assistant manager but contractually we've just got to make sure everything's right. It's just the natural process.

"It's an opportunity that both me and Andy are keen to carry on with and we're really delighted to be given the chance."

Meanwhile, Scunthorpe have revealed that six players - Neal Bishop, Tom Hopper, Luke Williams, Andrew Crofts, Jonathon Margetts and Jack Dyche - will not be offered new contracts and will leave the club this summer.
