Newport County completed the double against Grimsby Town last season, including a 1-0 win at Rodney Parade

Newport County made it three wins from three at home with a comfortable victory over Grimsby Town.

Matty Dolan's first-half free kick after 40 minutes gave the Exiles a deserved lead, Mike Flynn's side rarely threatened by the visitors.

Cardiff City loanee Mark Harris again impressed and was denied a strong claim for a penalty just before half-time.

Grimsby finished with 10 men after Wes Thomas was shown red for a high foot as they suffered a second league defeat.

Newport County manager Mike Flynn told BBC Sport Wales: "We should have scored a lot more and killed them off but we will take the 1-0 win at home, a clean sheet, and I thought it was a very good performance.

"I wasn't nervous but they have some very good players and it only takes a ricochet or a slip at 1-0 and be dragged back to a draw so it's good to get three points."
