Salford City 2-2 Braintree Town

Rory Gaffney scored in the first and last minute to deny Braintree an unlikely victory against National League leaders Salford.

Mohamed Bettamer scored twice for the visitors as bottom side Braintree had to settle for a battling draw after threatening to upset the leaders.

Gaffney gave Salford a first-minute lead but Bettamer's penalty just before half-time and a second goal after 73 minutes set them on course for all three points until Gaffney responded in stoppage time to earn his side a share of the spoils.

Gaffney opened the scoring when he latched on to a clearance and poked the ball home.

A minute before the break Braintree were awarded a penalty for handball at a corner and Bettamer beat Chris Neal from the spot.

Bettamer hit his second when he fired in after a breakaway from a Salford corner but Gaffney netted in stoppage time to earn a draw for his side.
