Jersey's players are hoping to get a higher standard of competition by joining Conifa
Parishes of Jersey made a winning start to life as a Conifa international side as they beat Yorkshire 2-1 at St Peter.
Skipper Jack Boyle and Calvin Weir got the goals for the island side before Seon Ridley's late reply for Yorkshire.
Jersey's bid for Uefa status was rejected in February and they joined Conifa (Confederation of Independent Football Associations) instead.
"It's early days within our Conifa journey but we're happy with that for a first game," manager James Scott said.
"Our lads performed really well. They're talented players, they can all play football, so that's what we did today.
"Yorkshire got in and among us and made it very difficult for us. They were a very physical side, but we played some very good football and that's what showed in the end."
Jersey are hoping to take part in the 2020 Conifa World Cup, and could compete in a tournament in Germany in February if they can get enough sponsorship.
Scott added: "A lot of time, effort, sweat and tears went into putting this game on, a lot of things have happened behind the scenes.
"The summer of 2020 is our main goal, that's what we're aiming towards, to get the lads to that World Cup."
