FA Cup: Maidstone United 2-1 Macclesfield Town highlights

National League side Maidstone scored two second half goals to knock out League Two Macclesfield in the FA Cup first round.

Ben Stephens put Macclesfield in front when he turned in from Malachi Napa's cross.

But a second-half turnaround saw the hosts move into the second-round draw as Jack Powell's whipped in free-kick from out wide levelled matters.

And Blair Turgott scored from the penalty spot to seal their victory.

A heated exchange at half-time proved to be the turning point for a Maidstone team who are currently struggling in the National League in 18th place, just one point above the relegation zone.

"I am very relieved and really proud of the lads in the end," said Maidstone manager Harry Wheeler.

"(We were) really poor in the first half, we didn't compete and deserved to be 1-0 down.

"We had a little bit of a rough-up (in the dressing room at half-time) and had a few verbals but sometimes you need that.

"We said the first 10 minutes of the half we need to get a goal, and if we do we can go and win it, so it was a great time to score."
