Arsenal manager Unai Emery says early indications suggest defender Rob Holding's knee injury is "not good".
The 23-year-old was taken off on a stretcher in the first half of the Gunners' 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
Holding was taken back to London for tests following the collision with Marcus Rashford nine minutes before half-time.
The club say there should be more news from doctors in the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsey had to be replaced at half-time and Emery said the medical team will monitor the Welshman before Saturday's Premier League match against Huddersfield.
"He had backache and now he's working with one physio," Emery told the media on Thursday.
The injury to Holding is the latest defensive setback for Arsenal, who remain without centre-back Laurent Koscielny and left-back Nacho Monreal.
The Gunners dropped down to fifth in the table after their 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.
