Dario Zanatta, right, scored the winner
Dundee United are now seven points adrift of the Championship summit after throwing away a lead to lose at Alloa Athletic.
Callum Booth had given Robbie Neilson's side the advantage with a stunning second-half free-kick.
But goals by Andy Graham and Dario Zanatta secured consecutive home wins for Jim Goodwin's part-time side.
Alloa stay third bottom, but edge a further point clear of Falkirk and Partick Thistle.
Alloa Athletic manager Jim Goodwin: "It was difficult to control the emotions when the second one went in. I would have taken a point at 1-0, but that was a fantastic goal to win it.
"We may not have been the better team, but we defended well."
Dundee United manager Robbie Neilson: "That was not acceptable for this club. We just crumbled and that is not good enough.
"I knew when I came in we had to get to January then do some things and that just proved that personnel changes have to be made. I have targets I'd like to get in before Saturday."
