Bristol City came from behind to reach the FA Cup fifth round for the first time since 2000-01 with victory over Championship strugglers Bolton.

Niclas Eliasson decided the tie with a sublime individual goal, cutting in from the right before unleashing an effort into the top corner.

Defender Mark Beevers had converted from Luca Connell's pinpoint cross to put Bolton ahead after six minutes.

But Callum O'Dowda levelled the contest for the hosts two minutes later.

The Republic of Ireland international did well to control Eliasson's ball with his chest before firing into the bottom corner.

Robins goalkeeper Frank Fielding denied Josh Magennis following a bright start by the visitors, while Joe Morrell saw an effort pushed away by Remi Matthews at the opposite end in a breathless opening period.

City's top scorer Famara Diedhiou saw a goal ruled out for offside before the interval, before narrowly failing to convert Marlon Pack's cross in the second half.

Chelsea loanee Kasey Palmer impressed on his first start for the club and struck the post from a long-range free-kick.

Victory for the in-form Robins was their sixth in a row and extended Lee Johnson's side's unbeaten run to 12 games in all competitions. However, four-time winners Bolton now have just two wins from their previous 20 matches.
