Braintree Town 2-0 Gateshead
- Published
Braintree were relegated from the National League despite a home win against play-off chasing Gateshead.
The visitors, who now sit five points off the top seven, went close to opening the scoring when Greg Olley's header from a corner came back off both post and crossbar.
Braintree took the lead just before the break when Daniel Matsuzaka was upended in the box and Korrey Henry drove home the resulting penalty.
Gateshead goalkeeper Aynsley Pears tipped Mohammed Sagaf's free-kick on to the bar as the Iron pushed for a second.
The hosts extended their lead in the 88th minute through 18-year-old debutant Alfie Cerulli, but results elsewhere sent them down.
