Montrose's Ross Campbell struck a brace to inflict defeat on Allan Johnston as he returned to the dugout for Queen of the South in this Championship play-off semi-final first leg.

Johnston took over from Gary Naysmith who left on Saturday but his side have it all to do in their survival fight.

Connor Murray levelled for the visitors but within a minute Campbell struck again after giving Montrose the lead just before the break.

The return leg is on Saturday.
