Exeter City 1-0 Macclesfield Town

Ryan Bowman enjoyed a huge slice of luck as Exeter struck in the 88th minute to beat Macclesfield in League Two.

Nicky Law drilled the ball into the box and it rebounded off Bowman and past Owen Evans in the Macclesfield goal.

It looked like Exeter would be left frustrated after Tom Parkes' goal-bound header was blocked on the line by team-mate Lee Martin in the 73rd minute.

Moments earlier Parkes squandered a glorious chance when he headed Pierce Sweeney's cross wide from close range.

Macclesfield shaded the first half and Exeter keeper Lewis Ward produced an instinctive save to push away Ben Stephens' close-range header.

Ward came to the rescue in the 27th minute when he gathered Joe Ironside's effort after the striker escaped down the right.

Exeter defender Dean Moxey made a stunning goal-saving tackle to prevent Ironside from tapping home in the 54th minute.

The home side rallied but were unable to force a crack in Macclesfield's brave resistance until Bowman was handed his moment of fortune.
