Second-half substitute Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick as Paris St-Germain defeated Club Bruges 5-0 to take a big step towards the Champions League knockout stage.

The France forward became the youngest player to score 15 goals in the competition at 20 years and 306 days.

He watched from the bench as loan signing Mauro Icardi swept home Angel di Maria's cross to give the French champions a seventh-minute lead.

Mbappe was brought on in the 52nd minute and scored nine minutes later when he headed past ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

The French striker set up Icardi for his second before he made it 4-0 by converting Di Maria's cross.

He completed his hat-trick seven minutes from time when he provided the finishing touch to a brilliant team move.

Coach Thomas Tuchel's side now need only a point from their Group A home match against Bruges in November to secure their passage.
