I think the catalyst for that tonight was a fit and lean-looking Dele Alli.

When he runs beyond Harry Kane and provides other options for the centre-forward to drop in and collect the ball and feed wide men and use his footballing intelligence then I think it makes such a difference to their team.

I think this season, when Eriksen has played he has not looked at it at all. We are used to getting a performance out of Son and we have seen another one tonight, but if he doesn't step up then sometimes Harry Kane can look a little bit predictable. He's not the quickest and so he needs that variation around him to be at his very best.

Has there been an overreaction?: "My theory is we started late in our preparation. We used pre-season not just to settle our principles of play and build fitness, but also to build a dynamic of the group and I believe that was affected because we started so late (due playing in the Champions League final).

On rumours of squad unrest: "In football we try to find a reason from nowhere.

"The problem was on the pitch and that is all. It's normal to see problems on the pitch, and you try to find a way to spark the team.

"But things happen in football you can't explain. It is so difficult and complex to explain.

"The most important thing is to be together and be calm and know that this type of thing can happen in any team.

"It is most import to show togetherness. If you do not win, the reason is because you are not performing on the pitch, not something that happens outside of the pitch."

Do you know extent of injury? "No. Not yet. I think tomorrow we will know and hopefully it will be between 10 days if it is not broken. If it is broken, it will be three weeks or one month."

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on BT Sport: "It was a really good result. The way they played created that. It was man to man all over the stadium, it was not comfortable, we're not used to playing against these teams.

"It was no surprise Atalanta finished third last season in Italy and even this season, they're playing well. The way they play, we knew that they would create chances, so it's an incredible result. It's three more points. One more win and we'll be in the next stage.

"Raheem Sterling was brilliant. He could have scored one more. Not just with the ball, without the ball, he helps us a lot."

Spurs forward Son Heung-min: "We as a team stuck together from the start. We wanted to win. It was an amazing job and amazing performance.

"The ball (for my first goal) was great and the timing perfect, then I finished well. Not important only the goal, the way we played was the most important thing.

"We have got a long way to go, some big away games coming in the Champions League. But we take it step by step, think about Sunday and Liverpool and then think about the Champions League again after that."

Manchester City defender John Stones on BT Sport: "We came up against a difficult team. We did our research, we knew they were a really aggressive team and they started like that.

"We got a good goal at a good time which put us back in the game and then the lads did the rest of the work up top."

On Rodri and Fernandinho playing at centre-back: "They're two top players playing in a position they're not used to. In his first season here, Rodri has slotted in brilliantly so credit to him, and credit to Dino for helping him along.

"We work in it in training so we can adapt and we can almost play it blind. It's good to be back on the pitch on a personal note but we'll have to see how Rodri's injury is."

Harry Kane speaking to BT Sport: "Great, exactly what we needed to do. We know we have had a tough run of results and that was the perfect way to respond.

"We wanted to come out of the blocks and press high. Of course we needed to score early on but we were ruthless in front of goal and got the clean sheet as well.

"The most important thing was the win. To win 5-0 was exactly what we needed.

"We've got a long way to go. Hopefully we can build on this. Liverpool is a tough game coming up, obviously they have started the season fantastic, but hopefully we can win that game."

Raheem Sterling on BT Sport: "It was difficult with them going man for man, it was tough to get space. But we had to stay patient, wait for a chance and take them when they came.

"I should have had four. They put me through and I was looking to put one on a plate for Riyad Mahrez. But I went through and should have finished it."

They are not quite there, no. We make it that they need a point.
