Ebbsfleet United 2-3 Notts County
- Published
Notts County dramatically booked their place in round two of the FA Cup thanks to Ben Turner's injury-time header as they defeated a spirited Ebbsfleet.
The header was the telling blow in a pulsating tie at Stonebridge Road, where Fleet had led early through Josh Payne's wonder strike.
A brace either side of half-time from Magpies striker Kyle Wootton put the visitors in control, before a late Gozie Ugwu penalty levelled things again.
However, it was Turner's towering header that ended prospects of a replay - an outcome which would have reflected fairly on both sides.
Payne's opener was a moment of real quality as the midfielder drove a spectacular strike into the top corner from 30 yards.
County were level before half-time though, as Wootton's low drive from a corner was controversially deemed to have crossed the line by the referee's assistant despite a last-ditch clearance attempt.
Wootton then put Neal Ardley's men in front with a neat low finish early in the second half, but Fleet refused to lie down.
Eventually pressure told, with a penalty awarded in the 89th minute for a County handball and converted by Ugwu.
It was to prove in vein, however - Turner rising highest to nod Regan Booty's corner home and spark jubilant scenes in the away terraces.
