Marc McNulty scored eight times in 17 games for Hibs last season

Scotland striker Marc McNulty and Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty have clinched deadline-day loan moves to Hibernian.

McNulty, 27, returns for the rest of the season after a scoring eight goals in 17 games on loan at Hibs last term.

Docherty, 23, spent last year on loan at Shrewsbury and also joins for the remainder of the campaign.

The duo's capture follows the transfer of defender Paul McGinn from St Mirren earlier on Friday.

All three are available to face McGinn's former side, who visit Leith on Saturday.

'I always wanted to come back'

Reading forward McNulty is "desperate to be involved as soon as possible" after rejoining the club for whom he enjoyed a fruitful spell last season, earning his international debut.

The striker has been recalled from a loan at Sunderland to make his new transfer, having been brought to the English League One club in the summer by Hibs head coach Jack Ross.

"Anyone who knows me knows how much I enjoyed my time at Hibs last season and how much I wanted to come back, so I'm grateful the people at the club pushed so hard to make it happen," he said.

"It makes a difference knowing I'll be playing for two guys who have already shown how much they want me and I'm looking forward to getting the chance to repay them.

"I also want to thank the supporters. From the day I left first time around I've had so many positive messages on social media. People probably don't understand how much that can mean to a player."

'I had the chance to go back to England'

Energetic midfielder Docherty rejected several offers from England to move to Hibernian.

The former Hamilton Academical and Scotland Under-21 international scored seven goals for Shrewsbury last term and was named the club's player of the year.

He last played for Rangers in a League Cup victory over East Fife in August.

"I had the chance to go back to England and I appreciate the clubs who made an effort to get me but I feel like I know Hibernian and it was an opportunity I was really keen to take as soon as I heard about their interest," Docherty said.

"I've not played as often as I would have liked in the last few months but I've been pushing myself to be as fit as I can be and I'll be ready as soon as the gaffer tells me he needs me."

'I didn't need to be convinced'

Versatile defender McGinn, 29, moved to Hibs for an undisclosed fee on an 18-month deal.

He is delighted to follow in the footsteps of younger brother John, who won the Scottish Cup with the club in 2016 before joining Aston Villa.

"It's a really proud day for me and the family," McGinn said. "No-one needs to tell me how big a club Hibernian is, or what the potential is.

"When the gaffer told me he wanted me to sign, it was a very short conversation. I didn't need to be convinced."

There could be further movement at Hibs, with striker Florian Kamberi in signing talks with Rangers.
