In-form Scott Hogan scored twice to extend Birmingham City's unbeaten Championship run to 10 matches as they took a point from QPR.
Hogan, on loan from City's rivals Aston Villa, put Blues in front midway through the first half, latching on to Maxime Colin's ball before slotting home.
QPR turned the game on its head with two quick goals soon after the break, Marc Pugh levelling before Jordan Hugill's near-post finish put the hosts in front.
But Hogan had the last word, heading home from close range following Dan Crowley's corner.
Hogan, who has now scored six goals in seven appearances for Birmingham, could even have won it during eight minutes of injury time, but was denied by a block from QPR's Conor Masterson.
The lengthy period of added time was due to a stoppage while Blues' Jeremie Bela was taken off on a stretcher.
Hogan's opener could have amounted to nothing, when Rangers hit back early in the second half - and Ebere Eze was involved in both goals.
Eze's free-kick was headed into the path of Pugh for the opener before he combined with Bright Osayi-Samuel who set up Hugill to make it 2-1.
Rangers keeper Liam Kelly did well to deny Marc Roberts an equaliser before being beaten by Hogan's header.
Birmingham keeper Lee Camp, formerly of QPR, then got a hand to Eze's effort.
Blues' 13-game unbeaten run in all competitions, which dates back to their last loss at home to Wigan Athletic on New Year's Day, is their best since 15 matches without defeat under Chris Hughton, between December 2011 and February 2012.
They have drawn six of their previous eight games, however, and this result keeps both teams firmly mired in mid-table - a place behind QPR, who are also nine points off a play-off place with 10 games left.
QPR manager Mark Warburton:
"We didn't attack the ball well enough and we were sloppy and paid the price. The first goal was a soft one to give away and the second was a soft set-piece and then we didn't defend it well.
"We dropped two points. We were 2-1 up, controlling the game and had big chances. We went 1-0 down and needed to change the tempo.
We did that and got two quick goals but I think we should have had three or four and we didn't take the chances."
Birmingham City head coach Pep Clotet told BBC WM:
"We knew it was very difficult to come to QPR. We had total control of the first half but, when QPR changed the game, it was good that the resilience we have in the squad got us back into the game.
"We're very happy with Scott Hogan. It's a very symbiotic relationship. He feels very good here. We said at the beginning we wanted the Scott that we saw at Brentford, and slowly we're getting him.
"Jeremie felt something in the hamstring. He was in a lot of pain. We're assessing him and we'll get him some treatment."
