Jonathan Afolabi bangs in his first goal for Dunfermline since joining on loan from Celtic

Kevin Nisbet and Jonathan Afolabi were on target as Dunfermline overpowered runaway leaders Dundee United in the Scottish Championship.

The visitors, who had not lost at East End Park since 2007, remain 18 points clear but have gathered just five points from their past five outings.

Nisbet steered in a smart header from a Kyle Turner cross on 26 minutes.

And Afolabi knocked in his first goal for the Pars on the hour, converting a Dom Thomas pass.

Dunfermline, who dominated from the first whistle, have now won three of their last four matches and move up to sixth place, five points off second spot.

Forward pairing Nisbet and Afolabi were prominent, with the former also hitting the post with an angled strike in a bid to add to his 23rd goal of the season.

It was a fifth defeat of the season for United, who failed to provide much in the way of meaningful service to the division's top scorer Lawrence Shankland.
