Chorley 1-2 Chesterfield

  • Published

Chesterfield boosted their National League survival hopes with victory at Chorley, pushing their hosts closer to the drop.

Tom Denton headed home from close range in the 40th minute after Haydn Hollis had flicked on a Liam Mandeville corner.

And Jordan Cropper doubled the visitors' advantage 19 minutes into the second half, firing in from a tight angle after receiving a pass from Nathan Tyson.

Chorley pulled one back through Connor Hall after a quickly taken free-kick 15 minutes from time, but it was as much as the Magpies could muster in response.

The result sees Chesterfield climb out of the bottom four, while Chorley are now 17 points from safety with eight matches left to play.
