Lewis Ferguson: Aberdeen must keep midfielder to show ambition, says James McFadden

Ferguson helped Aberdeen to the last four of the Scottish Cup and fourth place in the Premiership this season
Aberdeen must try to keep "standout" midfielder Lewis Ferguson at the club if "they're going to show any ambition", says former Scotland forward James McFadden.
The 20-year-old was named young player of the year by the Football Writers' Association.
He has made 82 appearances for Aberdeen and is under contract until 2024.
Ferguson is the nephew of Rangers legend Barry Ferguson and has been linked, external with a move to Ibrox.
"Aberdeen have shown in the past with the bids for Scott McKenna that they don't have to sell, they won't sell on the cheap," McFadden told the BBC's Scottish football podcast.
"I don't think they'd be keen to sell him to Rangers either. If Aberdeen want to keep him then he'll stay."
Ferguson was a key player for Aberdeen as they finished fourth in the Premiership and reached the last four of the Scottish Cup, which is yet to be completed.
He joined from Hamilton Academical in 2018 after progressing through their academy, and has now also attracted interest from England.
"Lewis Ferguson would be a huge loss to Aberdeen and if they're going to show any ambition they'll want to keep a hold of him," McFadden added.
"He's a standout for them, he drives them on, he can play in so many different positions and he's their go to guy."
