Birmingham City 0-1 Cambridge United: Robbie Cundy scores winner for U's
- Published
Aitor Karanka's first game in charge of Birmingham City ended in a shock home defeat to League Two side Cambridge United in the Carabao Cup first round.
The U's led when on-loan Bristol City defender Robbie Cundy outjumped keeper Andres Prieto to nod in a free-kick.
Birmingham almost responded instantly when Jeremie Bela smashed against the crossbar from outside the area.
But the Championship hosts mustered just two efforts on target as Cambridge saw out victory with relative ease.
George Friend was among the home debutants at St Andrew's, with his former Middlesbrough team-mate Adam Clayton coming off the bench for his Blues bow.
